On 4 januari 2002 I started to paint. Why? I had to find an activity that I could perform in Gavdos, which means that it would not require electricity. This island is one of the few remaining places of Europe that lacks electric current.

Painting seemed to be a good alternative. So I started to sketch and paint the subjects that were closest: portraits, landscapes and the water in and around Gavdos.
